Community Enterprise
Milltir Sgwâr is here to assist residents and groups, in rural Carmarthenshire, take a more active role in ensuring a strong and vibrant future for their communities.
The programme is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government, managed by Antur Teifi and delivered in partnership with Menter Cwm Gwendraeth.
Milltir Sgwâr wishes to involve all sectors of the community, however special emphasis is directed at targeting two key age groups; the 16-25's and the over 45's. The programme encourages young people to remain within the area or to return home. It also acknowledges that older residents, through their knowledge and experience, as well as the time they have available, can have a marked influence on community and social activity.
The programme's main activities are :

- To provide support for young people's activities that can become self financing
- The promotion of inter-generational activity to encourage better understanding between young people and older generations and vice versa
- Community visioning, whereby residents can identify requirements for improving life in their community
- The development of community history/heritage related activity in rural communities
- Mentoring service for newcomers to the area, when indigenous residents volunteer to assist newcomers with the difficult process of integrating into a new community.
- Seed Corn fund - this is a revenue funding source to assist any community activity that has the potential to increase the skills and capacity of residents and groups. The fund has two lines of giving; the Main Fund pays up to £1,000 or up to 80% of the total cost of an approved project. The Fast Track fund pays up to £500 or up to 80% of the total cost of an approved project.
